A thought about ‘Open Heavens…’

Hebrews 10:19-20 states, “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body.” Open heavens seems to be a popular topic in church circles, and I want to address the reality of our open heavens. Many times we look at passages like Isaiah 64 which is a declarative statement for God to “Rend the Heavens, and come down!” We have all prayed or have heard others pray for God to rend the heavens and come down, right now! While the prayer is genuine, it is at best misguided and at worst filled with unbelief.
You see in Matthew 3, when Jesus was baptized the clouds parted (heavens rent) and the Holy Spirit came down. And Revelation 3:7 states that what He opens cannot be shut, and what He shuts cannot be opened. Let’s think about that in light of this Hebrews 10 passage we began with. On the cross Jesus opened a new and living way, a way of open heavens or open relationship with God, that can NEVER be shut. Remember He opened it, we cannot do anything to shut it.
You already have an open heavens. No amount of praying, fasting, reading, obeying can open that reality for you. Only Jesus broken body on the cross opened this new and living way. Therefore, simply believe you have an open heavens, and watch as your thoughts, emotions, and purpose begin to align with Heaven’s destiny for you, and you begin to manifest the glory of the Lord everywhere you go. This gospel is full of good news.
